CHOOSE LIFE
NH Vanity License Plate Initiative
2003 Legislative Hearings
occurred on February 19, 2003 NHRTL is pleased to be a founding partner in
the CHOOSE LIFE license plate program. Like other NH vanity plates
such as the "Moose Plate", this would be optional for those NH
drivers who see fit to help adoption agencies in this
manner. The legislative approval does not yet exist for
this, but we are circulating a petition
to help show the NH legislators that this program, like the many other states
who already have it, would work in New Hampshire too.
This idea does NOT replace the "LIVE
FREE OR DIE" motto from the plates, and the exact artwork would have to be
approved by the Legislature, Governor, and the NH D.O.T. Since so
many of our tax dollars and government fees find their way to Planned
Parenthood and similar "Choice" organizations, it's time that we
allow a way to embrace those who would "CHOOSE LIFE" and allow babies
to live as adopted children. Please contact us to get involved and
help: mailto:life@nhrtl.org or
call us at 626-7950.

The following article is from the NHRTL NEWS, September
2002 edition:
CHOOSE LIFE License Plate Initiative
Ed Holdgate
NHRTL Pres.
A successful vanity plate
program, similar to our NH "moose"
plate, is being used in Florida to raise
money to promote adoption as the pro-life
alternative to abortion.
In just two years, the Florida
version of the plate raised over $1 million
for adoption and pro-adoption agencies. Now,
under the leadership of Joan and Charlie
Espinola, NHRTL is helping import this idea into New Hampshire. A kick-off
meeting of some 35 people occurred on July 2 in Salem. Russ and Jill Amerling,
who are taking the successful Florida plate program national, coached Joan
and Charlie, and helped us plan this new initiative.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. Circulate news of this new idea
so we can get the legislation allowing these
plates passed. Explain that a few states already have these plates
"on the road", and 15 other states
are in various stages. Remember the normal state
fees apply, and an additional "vanity plate" fee would help finance
selected adoption agencies, maternity homes,
and crisis pregnancy centers -- but exact details
have yet to be worked out in the legislation. No money would go to
any agency or program that promotes or refers
women for abortions.
2. Write letters to the editors
promoting the idea. Use information from the
national website, www.choose-life.org,
and check the NHRTL website for recent
developments here. Share news of this in e-mails.
3. Photocopy the petition
which appears on the next page of this newsletter.
Give several blank copies to pro-life friends and relatives (asking them
to share blanks copies with others), and then strive to fill petitions
yourself. Return them to
NHRTL before November 1, 2002. We shall use the petitions
to show legislators there are many pro-lifers who
want the plate, and we shall strive to keep
the petition signers informed on pro-life matters.
4. Attend the Legislative
Hearing in Concord to express your support for this bill with a 3 to 5 minute
talk to the NH House Transportation Committee. Follow this
2003
Legislation link.
Considering that Planned Parenthood enjoys so very much
taxpayer funding, it's time for some balance.
